Love in Action!

Even though we are a small church, we value service to the community a great deal.  Love in Action is the outreach arm of New Journey church.  Do you have a heart for serving the community?  We'd love to have you join us in our mission of spreading God's love with those around us!   Feel free to browse some of the things we're doing, and we'd love suggestions of other ways we could spread LOVE!

Capitol Pride Parade Outreach 2018

It is unfortunate that Christians in America are known for being anti-LGBT.  We wanted to stand against that message of hate, and spread LOVE to these precious children of God.  That's why, in June 2018, a small group of us passed out rainbow heart pins in Dupont Circle in Washington D.C., as people entered the pride parade!   We had positive reactions from many parade attendees who were happy to hear a simple reminder of God's love, and that he loves EVERYONE for who they are!

Supporting our teachers

As a church that meets at a school, we have a special place in our hearts for our teachers!  This year we reached out to the staff at Stone Middle School to see how we could support the staff during Teacher Appreciate Week.   We were able to make 7 or 8 huge baskets full of treats and goodies to put in each of the teacher's lounges.  We want to put a smile on the faces of those people who influence the next generation!

Supporting the family of a preschooler fighting a Brain Tumor

Sometimes in our day to day lives, situations are brought to our attention that we just can't ignore.  This is what happened recently!  One of our church members learned of a boy who was in her daughter's preschool class who was unfortunately facing a brain tumor.  In addition to supporting little Owen and his family in prayer, we wanted to support the family in any way we could think of- from sending a gas card to help them travel to medical appointments to some restaurant gift cards to support them with some meals.    Let's keep praying for them!
